Protecting the natural environment of Port Phillip Bay is a priority for the Port of Melbourne Corporation. The Supplementary Environment Effects Statement (SEES) found that channel deepening can be achieved without significant adverse impact on the marine and coastal environment. This position was reinforced by the independent Inquiry panel and Minister for Planning’s assessment of the SEES.
