Dredging is currently occurring in:
Port Melbourne Channel (North of Bay)
Vessel undertaking works: Queen of
the Netherlands
Dredge material placed in: Port of
Melbourne Dredged Material Ground
Visible outcomes of works: Turbid plumes can
expect to be seen in the vicinity of dredging works.
Please maintain a safe distance from dredging equipment at all
times. For information on restricted access areas around vessels

Dredging works: Dredging works:
Dredging of clay is occurring in Port
Melbourne Channel between Kp10.7 and Kp18.6. For location

Queen of the Netherlands
is scheduled
to continue dredging in the Port Melbourne Channel today
(27/3).
The vessel will also travel to the South Channel to take on a
load of sand to clean the clay residue in the hopper.
This will be done daily as required depending on the
build up of clay from the dredging in the north.
Approximately one load a day will be taken from the east of
Hovell Pile and placed in the Port of Melbourne Dredged
Material Ground in the north of the bay.
A sweep
barge and tugboat are expected to continue sweep operations in the Port Melbourne Channel
and Port of Melbourne Dredged Material
Ground. These work independent of the Queen of the
Netherlands. |
